Join the discussion led by Senior Legal Counsel Maria Rehbinder and moderated by Staff Scientist Dr. Richard Darst on how research software can be licensed. In this interview-type session, we spend a short time on basic principles but dedicate the most time to complex situations which often come up in larger projects. The audience is encouraged to submit questions in advance.
We will discuss the legal framework for licensing research study related software in addition to how licensing open-source software should be done in practice, namely the use of open-source licenses such as The MIT License and other licenses. This talk is not designed to only repeat the information you can find at the links below, but provide a detailed discussion about special cases, which are more common than one might expect as projects grow larger.
