Data Management Plans: a How-to

Description

Data Management Plans (DMPs) are often required by research funders and writing them has become an important skill for researchers. DMPs are important tools that allow you to plan ahead where your data should be stored and how it can be shared. DMPs also guide you to assess possible risks related to the legal and ethical dimensions of your research already in the early stages of your project. Due attention needs to be given to the safe storing of confidential and sensitive data, for example.

In this webinar, we will go through some of the topics that are common to many DMP templates. Topics such as research ethics, data documentation, data storage, and data sharing will be addressed. Horizon Europe program DMP template questions will be used to ground the discussion. At the end of the talk, links will be given to DMP templates and exemplars, policies, and relevant Aalto web pages. Resources for getting further training and help will also be discussed.

Who can participate?

The event is organised by Aalto Research Services, but everyone interested in the topic can participate. Some of the examples (e.g. data storage solutions) covered in the session are mainly relevant to those working or studying at Aalto.

Learning outcomes

You will learn about the objectives of DMPs and have practical tips for writing them. You will also learn about the resources available to aid in writing DMPs.
