Description
The International Image Interoperability Framework (IIIF) allows cultural heritage organisations to share and use digital collections easily. The National Library of Finland is implementing the IIIF standard in its digi.nationallibrary.fi and Finna.fi -services to enable better interoperability and improve the usability of its collections internationally for various audiences. As a national digital service provider, the NLF will also share any lessons learned with its network, especially the Finnish cultural heritage community.
The managing director of the IIIF Consortium Martin Kalfatovic will visit Helsinki on September 18th 2025 to get acquainted with the Images in Dialogue -project and the Finnish IIIF-landscape. During his visit Martin will give a talk on how cultural heritage organisations are taking advantage of IIIF-collections and applications in their daily work. In this event we will also give a status update of the National Library’s IIIF implementation project. All presentations will be in English.
