DESCRIPTION:Europeana Café: balancing openness with ethical access and use. The case of data and digital heritage belonging to minority\, indigenous and other communities\n\nIn this Europeana café (in association with the Digicher project) we will explore data\, including digitised heritage\, belonging to minority\, indigenous and other communities. \n\n\n\n\nInvited speakers will introduce case studies from various perspectives involving communities’ data\, its preservation\, presentation and handling by institutions. \nTogether we will reflect on questions like: \n\nHow can open data support the rights of minority communities?\nAre there situations in which openness or the FAIR principles might bring prejudice to minority communities?\nHow can institutions work with communities for mutual benefit?\nWhat are possible solutions to balance openness with ethical access and use of data?\n\nThe cafe will include an open discussion and Q&A with attendees. \nRegister here. \n\n\n\n\n\n
