SUMMARY:DHNB 2026: Lost in Abundance: Encounters with the Non-Canonical
DESCRIPTION:DHNB conferences focus on research\, education and communication in the interdisciplinary field of digital humanities in the Nordic and Baltic regions and beyond. The conference has a history of bringing together academics\, researchers\, students\, and professionals with an interest in applying digital methods to research relevant to humanities\, social sciences and arts. DHNB invites contributions from all domains of digital humanities. \nSpecial Theme 2026\nThe conference and preconference activities take place from March 9-13 2026 at Aarhus University. With the special theme of DHNB2026 ‘Lost in Abundance: Encounters with the Non-Canonical’\, we encourage fresh and critical approaches to uncovering overlooked literary trends\, forgotten visual drifts\, unconventional historical records or cultural products etc. How might digital humanities guide us through this abundant yet underexplored landscape? What insights\, challenges\, and questions emerge when we re-direct our attention from canonical towards underexplored\, neglected\, or scattered data? We invite scholars\, practitioners\, and societal stakeholders to engage with topics like: \n\nIdentification of hidden texts\, images\, genres\, and multimedia within established or emerging archives\nMethodological innovations for engaging with neglected or dispersed digital content\nCritically revisiting and challenging established categories and cultural frameworks\nEthical reflections on exploring overlooked or fragmented sources\nInterdisciplinary insights into underexplored and diverse cultural materials\nAdvanced and inventive use of digital methods and computational approaches\n\nKeynote Speakers\nWe are delighted to announce that Mike Kestemont\, Folgert Karsdorp\, Katherine Bode and Bolette Sandford Pedersen will join us as keynote speakers at our upcoming conference. Their contributions promise to offer valuable perspectives and inspire engaging discussions – read more here. \nTimeline\n\nRegistration opens in week 2\, 2026 (updated from 18 December 2025)\n15/02/2026 Deadline for submitting revised full papers and abstracts (updated from 31 January)\n09/02/2026 Early bird deadline for registration\n19/02/2026 Registration closes\n9-10/03/2026 Pre-conference meetings\, workshops\, doctoral consortium\n11-13/03/2026 Conference\n15/05/2026 Deadline for submitting papers for post-proceedings\n\nOrganizers\n\nCenter for Digital Textual Heritage\, Aarhus University\nCenter for Humanities Computing\, Aarhus University\n\nContact: dhnb2026[at]cas.au.dk \nProgramme\nVenue and getting there\nRegistration & Fees
